DAWY Christmas Appeal 2020

2020 has certainly been a challenging year for many, but it has also highlighted with us coming out of Lockdown 2, just how reliant we are on technology. From ordering shopping online through to video calls with colleagues and loved ones, it has been our constant companion.

The other area technology needs to support us on is our children’s education. From joining video conference classrooms, through to leveraging online educational content from BBC Bitesize and others, without access to a computer, many children will (and are) missing out.

This Christmas, we are asking you to make a donation to ensure that a child from a disadvantaged situation can continue their education if they need to isolate at home, or indeed into the holidays whilst so many pupils are catching up.

We have over 100 asks for kit from schools unable to support, specifically for children who have no access to a computer from home. If you could purchase something on this Amazon Wishlist, you could help to give a Yorkshire based child the greatest gift this Christmas, a chance to ensure they have equal opportunities to thrive at school.

One of the greatest things about the Yorkshire Tech community is our support of each other, and we need your help more than ever to end 2020 on a high. Equally if you have any unneeded laptops needing a new home, please contact us here and we’ll get those ready for a new home too.

Please share with your networks and support if you can. Thank you!
